Storyboard AI Tool V1.1 Released!

Storyboard AI Tool v1.1 Is Here

New Providers, ComfyUI Workflows, Backup Library & More

We are excited to announce the release of Storyboard AI Tool v1.1 — a significant update that expands the app’s AI provider support, gives advanced users full control over their image generation pipeline through ComfyUI custom workflows, and introduces a complete storyboard library and backup system.

This release is the result of real-world use, bug reports, and valuable community feedback. A special thank you goes out to Max — your input and thoughtful feedback directly shaped this release and made it better. We genuinely appreciate the time and care you put into testing and sharing your experience with us.

Here is a look at everything that is new in v1.1.

New AI Providers

v1.1 adds significant new options on both the image generation and language model sides of the app.

Grok Aurora Image Generation (xAI) You can now generate storyboard images using xAI’s Grok-2 Image model via the xAI API. Grok Aurora supports both URL and base64 image output and uses an OpenAI-compatible format, making it a smooth addition to the existing provider lineup.

Google Imagen 3 Google’s Imagen 3.0 model is now available for high-quality image generation with configurable safety filters and person generation settings.

Grok-3 LLM (xAI) On the story processing side, Grok-3 joins Claude, GPT-4 Turbo, and LM Studio as a supported LLM. It integrates via xAI’s OpenAI-compatible API and fully supports character extraction and scene breakdown.

ComfyUI Custom Workflow Support

This is the big one for power users. You can now import any ComfyUI workflow directly into Storyboard AI Tool by pasting your workflow exported in ComfyUI’s “Save (API Format).”

What this means for you:

  • Use any model ComfyUI supports — Flux, Pony, Illustrious, SDXL, SD 1.5, and more
  • The app auto-detects the positive prompt node (CLIPTextEncode) and output node (SaveImage/PreviewImage) from your workflow
  • Seed randomization on KSampler nodes and EmptyLatentImage dimensions are updated automatically based on your selected image size
  • If auto-detection picks the wrong nodes, you can manually specify the prompt and output node IDs
  • Fully backward compatible — without a custom workflow, the app continues to use its built-in SDXL workflow

This addition opens up the full power of the local ComfyUI ecosystem to Storyboard AI Tool users.

Storyboard Library & Backup System

Managing your storyboards just got a lot easier. v1.1 introduces a full storyboard library with a grid view and thumbnails, letting you browse and organize your work at a glance.

New library features include:

  • Drag-and-drop reordering of storyboards
  • Export individual storyboards or your entire library as ZIP archives, including all images and videos
  • Import storyboards from backup ZIP files with automatic conflict resolution and ID management
  • Backup and restore works seamlessly on Windows

We also fixed a bug that was preventing backup files from importing correctly. If you ran into that issue in v1.0, it is resolved.

Video Generation Updates

Several video generation improvements are included in this release. We have fixed timeout bugs affecting Runway, Luma, and ComfyUI AnimateDiff, and added a dedicated Video Generation Instructions field that gives you better control over camera motion and movement direction.

You can now enter motion guidance text per frame (e.g., “slow zoom in” or “pan left”) and see real-time progress with percentage display during generation.

UI/UX Improvements

The app opens with a polished new animated splash screen featuring a logo mark with floating animation, a pulsing glow effect in the app’s signature purple/blue gradient, floating particle effects, and a realistic loading progress bar.

Settings have been streamlined as well. Selecting “Local Stable Diffusion or ComfyUI” as your image provider now automatically enables the local SD configuration section, removing the need for a separate checkbox. Labels have been improved throughout for clarity.

Keep the Feedback Coming

Storyboard AI Tool gets better with every release because of people who take the time to share what they are experiencing in the real world. If you run into a bug, have a suggestion, or just want to share what you have been making — we want to hear from you.

Please continue to send your feedback, feature suggestions, and bug reports to our team. Every report helps us prioritize what to fix and where to take the app next.

Thank you for using Storyboard AI Tool. We look forward to seeing what you create.
